Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What is Southwest Halal?

Southwest Halal is your local trusted source for authentic hand-slaughtered halal meat. We provide high-quality beef, lamb, chicken, and goat — all hand-slaughtered without stunning — and deliver across the United States.

2. Is your meat 100% halal and hand-slaughtered?

Yes. Every animal is hand-slaughtered (zabiha) according to Islamic guidelines, with no stunning involved. We work closely with our suppliers to ensure full halal integrity from farm to packaging.

3. How are your animals slaughtered — horizontally or vertically?

At Southwest Halal, all animals are slaughtered with a horizontal cut across the throat, following the authentic halal and sunnah method.

This horizontal incision ensures a swift, humane, and complete drainage of blood, which is essential for proper halal slaughter.

In contrast, many industrial facilities in the U.S. use a vertical cut from the heart upward, designed for efficiency rather than halal requirements.

We maintain the traditional horizontal hand-slaughter to ensure every animal is processed in full accordance with Islamic principles — no stunning, no mechanical slaughter, and full respect for the animals.

4. Where do you deliver?

We deliver across the United States, and offer free delivery options across the Southwest states — including New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, Utah, and Nevada. Please see our Shipping page for more details.

5. Do you have a physical store?

Not yet — we operate as an online halal meat store, bringing quality halal meat straight to your doorstep. Being fully online allows us to offer a wider variety of cuts and meats than most local stores, including specialty items like steaks, lamb chops, and stew meats that are often hard to find as halal. It also allows us to reduce prices given that we do not have the cost associated with a brick-and-mortar store.

You can browse, order, and track your delivery all from our website — making it simple, convenient, and reliable to enjoy fresh, authentic halal meat anywhere in the U.S.

6. How is the meat kept fresh during shipping?

We pack all orders in insulated boxes with thick EPS (styrofoam) lining and food-grade gel packs to keep your meat perfectly chilled or frozen for up to 48 hours in transit. When needed, we also use dry ice to maintain optimal temperature and freshness.

7. What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major credit/debit cards and Shop Pay through our secure online checkout.

8. Do you offer free shipping?

Yes! We offer free local delivery in select New Mexico areas and free shipping options for all orders above $150 across Southwest states. Check our Shipping page for the latest offers.

9. Can I pick up my order instead of delivery?

Currently, we’re delivery-only — but we’re exploring pickup options for our local customers soon.

10. How should I store the meat once it arrives?

Please place your meat in the freezer immediately upon delivery to maintain quality and freshness. If you plan to cook within 1–2 days, refrigeration is fine.

11. What if my order arrives thawed or damaged?

Customer satisfaction is our priority. If your order arrives thawed beyond safe levels or damaged, contact us within 24 hours with photos, and we’ll make it right.
